Getting up early in Baguio City is quite hard – considering the good weather. Much more, it is hard to look for a restaurant in Baguio City just after you wake up.
Good thing that in Azalea Residences have an in-house restaurant that I was able to try. It is just at the ground floor of the hotel, a nice place to stay at during the morning. (UPDATE: Read about the Mongolian Buffet in Tradisyon every Thursday and Friday)
Baguio City Restaurant : Tradisyon Pinoy Comfort Food
So, the breakfast is sort of a sneak peak on how crafty the people in the kitchen department performs.
But before I ate my first meal in Tradisyon, I sat first and observed, and of course take photos. Hahaha! Force of habit. Here’s a view from my side of the resto. A nice view of the other guests around, and a first glance on how Azalea looks like in daylight.
The breakfast in Tradisyon is a combination of Filipino, American and Continental selections for buffet. Some of the Filipino selections are homegrown Baguio food, which any guest, would definitely want to try, especially for the first timers.
My first meal was vegetable salad, fried rice, mixed veggies, tocino, fish, sotanghon and a try of Baguio Longganisa. I instantly loved their longganisa. It is different from Vigan longganisa of Ilocos Sur.
There are also choices of fish, sausage and hotdog. Though, I did not choose to eat those that morning.
The egg of course is cooked according to how would you like it done. And yeah, I was really hungry. Hahaha!
At first taste, I loveeeeeee their hot chocolate drink. It is a great way to really start the morning there in Baguio City. For coffee lovers, do not worry, it’s your choice of chocolate or coffee. I choice the chocolate. There are also available fruit juices on the buffet table.
There are also fresh fruits on the side for desserts. Hmmm… I don’t know why I do not have any shots of the desserts. Probably, was too busy munching the heavy breakfast I got myself into. Hahaha!
Anyway, we were on a trip to visit the whole Azalea Residences after breakfast, just to see the facilities and other rooms. Here is a brief on the whole tour of Azalea.
After the tour, we were supposed to try the lunch offering of Tradisyon, but due to the cold weather in Baguio, long sleep during the day was inevitable. Lol!
Honestly, looking back, I wish I hadn’t skipped the lunch meal, so at least I tried all of the offering in the restaurant.
Anyway, come dinner time, my excitement rose as I would be trying their Pizza and Pasta Buffet Night. Woohoo! Pizza and pasta are one of the few foods that I and Cristelle, my fiance, love eating.
There were different Pizza that night:
- Margarita Pizza
- Chicago Pizza
- Hawaiian Pizza
- Sicilan Pizza
- Baguio Longganisa Pizza
Gotta say that the Baguio Longganisa Pizza was the pizza of the night for me. It is the most unique among the five. Don’t get me wrong, all the pizza were great. With all honesty, the taste are all similar to big commercial pizza restaurants that you can think of, but what I was after that night, is something authentic in Tradisyon.
The close second for me was the Sicilan Pizza.
Other offerings include:
- Penne Pasta
- Caesar Salad
- Foccacia Bread
- Minestrone Soup
For the pasta, this part is what I loved the most about it. You can have your pasta customized the way you want it. Isn’t that great?
A cook waits on a separate table with different pastas and ingredients waiting for a guest to choose a pasta dish. It’s like having a “Pasta Genie” if you may. 🙂
So, for that night, I chose Bolognese and a Spicy, white sauce pasta with peanut (pardon me, for forgetting the name, arrgh).
Both were fantastic. A great meal to have, anytime of the day!
Yes, I have to confess. It was a carb-overload for me. Couldn’t help it that night. Tradisyon just made good pasta and pizza dishes.
But wait… there’s more! (I think that sounded like a TV shopping cliche)
Dessert to cap the dinner… Tiramisu.
That really hit the spot for me during dinner at Tradisyon Pinoy Comfort Food.
So, at the top of my head, after that, “What’s for breakfast?” Hahaha… But kidding aside, you wouldn’t help but think what are the food offerings of a restaurant that serves good food. It wouldn’t be hard to disregard the food if it were awful. But in the case of Tradisyon, it’s hard to resist.
That’s why, come next morning, there’s another reason to wake up, since breakfast is only served from 6am-9am. So, I shouldn’t be wasting my time. Hahaha!
And so, another morning of adventure in the Tradisyon breakfast buffet table.
It was a hotdog, longganisa, mixed vegetable, bacon, fried dried fish for breakfast for me. Then, I added two sunny side up eggs on the side. 🙂
And since, there were pancakes, it didn’t hurt to have it for breakfast as well.
TAKE NOTE: If you’re waiting for the butter to melt, you would be disappointed. 🙂
And didn’t I say that their hot chocolate drink is great? And it shows! I had two or three cups that morning and the next.
If you’re wondering, Tradisyon also offers ala carte meals. Good thing, I was able to try some of their most ordered meals, like:
- Kare-kare – Php 300
- New Orleans Baby Back Ribs – Php 250
- Callos Madrilena – Php 280
- Southern Fried Chicken with wedges – Php 220
- Mango-Strawberry Shake – Php 160
If you’re asking how’s the food? Great. Really great. You can never go wrong in the selection that they have. Both for ala carte and buffet. Unless, you are allergic. Too bad.
Tradisyon Pinoy Comfort Food offers themed nights for dinner.
Like the Pizza and Pasta Night on Saturdays for Php 350 and the Mongolian every Thursdays (Php 180) and Fridays (Php 220).
